despite what some media outlets would have you believe, the streets of Paris are not currently littered with burned-out cars and it's clear that the vast majority of residents in the areas most affected by violence would far prefer dialogue and positive action, so that they can feel they have an optimistic future within France. we'll see if the politicians come through for them...

to convince myself to feel optimistic--never easy when observing politicians--this evening i dropped by the best North African pastry shop in Paris: LA BAGUE A KENZA at 106 rue Saint-Maur. just last month, they published a book which features elegant tales by Chetrit along with recipes and photos...reassuring during this un-sweet period in Paris.
